Real Madrid recorded a 2-0 away win over Espanyol, keeping the title race alive and delaying Barcelona’s celebration in La Liga.
Attention now turns to next week, where “El Clásico” is played, a match in which the championship could be sealed.
The first half was accompanied by a rhythm and strong tackles. Real Madrid created a golden opportunity in the 8th minute, when Vinicius Junior hit the post.
Then, in the 14th minute, the Madrid team was forced to make an early substitution, as Ferland Mendy was injured and replaced by Fran Garcia.
In the second half, Real Madrid increased the pressure and found the lead in the 55th minute.
Gonzalo Garcia passed into the area, Vinicius Junior quickly returned and scored for 0-1, with the ball ending up in the net after also touching the post.
Just 11 minutes later, Madrid sealed the victory. Jude Bellingham put Vinicius in an ideal position and the Brazilian scored with a beautiful shot into the top corner for 0-2 (66′).
In the final minutes, Real Madrid had several good chances for a third goal, with Bellingham and Mastantuono being stopped by excellent saves from the Espanyol goalkeeper.
With this victory, Real Madrid postpones Barcelona’s title celebration, while next week’s “El Clásico” is expected to be the key match where everything can be decided and the title celebrated.
