According to reports from Bild, the 26-year-old center-back has included a release clause in his contract that ranges from 50 to 60 million euros, a sum considered affordable for Europe’s elite clubs and which could pave the way for a transfer this summer.
It was initially reported that Bayern Munich could be one of the main contenders to activate this clause, but these claims were later dismissed, with Bild sources stressing that the Bavarians will not have access to the player during this contractual period.
This situation suggests that Schlotterbeck’s future could lie outside the Bundesliga if he decides to leave. He is said to be interested in some of the continent’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
