In this case it is not about a coach or a player, but about the sporting director and former goalkeeper of United, Edwin van der Sar. At Old Trafford, he would perform the same function, and in him, among other things, a great connection is seen with Dutch football where there is a lot of talent and underrated footballers.
“United have been interested in Van der Sar before, but now they have made things concrete and contacted him last week. Manchester are brimming with enthusiasm as they brainstorm how to expand Ajax’s contingent at Old Trafford and are delighted with the progress of Ten Hag and the players. Now they want to continue copying Ajax and repeat the success of this club that has been winning titles since 2019,” writes the Dutch portal Football Example.
The only problem is that Van der Sar recently extended his contract with Ajax until 2025, so if they want to bring him home, United will have to pay for him.
