Guinness Confirms the World’s Shortest Living Horse

A horse in Germany has officially been named the world’s shortest living horse by Guinness World Records, measuring only 53 centimeters in height.

Carola Weidemann, the owner of the miniature horse named Pumuckel, said she adopted him in 2020 when he was just five months old and only about 45 centimeters tall.

“I had never seen a horse so small before,” Weidemann said.

Pumuckel quickly gained attention online due to his unusually tiny size and adorable appearance. Videos of him attempting to jump small obstacles or playing with other animals have made him a viral sensation on social media.

Guinness World Records confirmed the title after completing official measurements, noting that Pumuckel meets all health and classification requirements for miniature horses.

Despite his very small stature, Weidemann says Pumuckel is energetic, playful, and enjoys being around people. She describes him as “a big character in a tiny body.”

The previous record holder for the shortest living horse was a miniature mare from the United States measuring 56 centimeters, which makes Pumuckel even smaller.

Weidemann says she hopes the recognition will bring more awareness to the proper care of miniature horses, emphasizing that their small size does not make them easier pets.

“People need to understand that even though he’s tiny, he still requires the same love, attention, and veterinary care as any horse,” she said.

With his new world record confirmed, Pumuckel is expected to become even more popular online as fans celebrate the tiny horse with a huge personality.
