Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has confirmed that he is very close to signing a new contract with the English club.
Speaking about his future, the Frenchman stressed that talks with the club have long advanced and that the final agreement is close.
“My future? To be honest, a lot has been said, but we have been in talks with the club for a long time and we are very close to an agreement,” Konate said.
He added that his desire has always been to continue at Liverpool and that the current situation is very positive.
“I think everyone has wanted this for a long time and we are on a good path. There is probably a big chance that I will be here next season. This is what I have always wanted,” Konate said.
Konate also commented on the process of finalizing the contract, hinting that the matter is only a matter of time.
“We are waiting to close the contract, but when everything is finished, you will have to ask Richard Hughes what I said to him in September and November and he will say something that will calm everyone down,” Konate added with humor.
Liverpool are expected to officially finalise the deal in the coming days or weeks, ensuring the continuity of one of the team’s key defenders.
