Nicole Kidman surprised viewers with an unexpected confession during a television interview, revealing that she has learned how to perform an autopsy while preparing for her upcoming role in the thriller series Scarpetta.

The Oscar winning actress made the remark while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she discussed playing the famous forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta in the adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels.

During the conversation, Kidman casually revealed the unusual skill she had learned for the role.

“I can do an autopsy,” she told Fallon, before adding with a smile, “I can take all the organs out. I can name them all.”

The comment left the audience surprised, and Fallon jokingly asked whether she had become a full method actor for the role.

“Yes, I am,” Kidman replied.

The actress explained that her preparation involved closely studying real forensic procedures and working directly with medical professionals.

“I worked with an incredible pathologist and studied what they do,” Kidman said, explaining that understanding the human body and autopsy techniques was necessary to make the role believable.

She also joked that she had texted Fallon before the show to ask whether she might be able to demonstrate an autopsy on the program.

“Unless I misunderstood. Maybe it would have been on a model or something,” she laughed.

According to information about the project, the series Scarpetta will follow the famous fictional medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta as she investigates complex crimes using forensic science. Kidman also serves as an executive producer on the project.

The cast includes several major Hollywood names, among them Jamie Lee Curtis, Simon Baker, Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale, Jake Cannavale, Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti and Hunter Parrish.

The show is based on Patricia Cornwell’s internationally successful book series, which has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and is considered one of the most influential forensic crime franchises in modern literature.

Kidman’s surprising revelation about her preparation has already gone viral online, with fans reacting with a mix of shock, fascination and curiosity about the upcoming series.
