A devastating fire has completely destroyed the main stand of the Factory Field stadium in Valkeakoski, Finland, home of the historic football club Haka. The blaze broke out on Sunday evening and engulfed the structure within minutes, causing significant material damage.

Police have detained three teenagers in connection with the incident. A 15 year old has admitted to starting the fire. Due to Finnish law, minors under the age of criminal responsibility are not expected to face formal charges.

The destruction is extensive. The entire stand has been reduced to ashes, and the artificial turf pitch has also suffered severe damage from the heat and falling debris.

Club president Marko Larsson expressed deep disappointment, especially given the difficult period Haka is already facing after being relegated from the top division.

“Obviously we did not need this. That is clear. We have already received a lot of support from people, and we will need more moving forward. The total extent of the damage is not yet known, but it is very significant,” Larsson said.

Executive director Olli Huttunen called the incident shocking.

“This is extremely disturbing, especially when you consider how important Factory Field is for Finnish football. This kind of behaviour, where people have no respect for someone else’s property, is scandalous. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.”

Authorities confirmed that after the investigation is completed, the damaged stand will be demolished and replaced with a new structure. Only the metal frame of the current tribune is expected to remain.
