Swiss Pensioner Scammed by Fake Brad Pitt Loses Nearly 100,000 Dollars and Waits Weeks in a Hotel for Him
A pensioner from Switzerland was convinced she was in a romantic relationship with Hollywood star Brad Pitt. She ended up paying the scammer nearly 100,000 dollars and even traveled to the United States where she spent three weeks alone in a hotel room waiting for the famous actor to appear.
The woman, identifying herself as Patricia, said everything began in May 2024 when she followed what she believed was Brad Pitt’s official Instagram profile and soon received a message from someone claiming to be his manager. The person asked if she would like to speak with the actor directly, and she agreed.
“We started communicating normally, like two people meeting in a very pleasant way,” she said. Their exchanges continued and eventually the scammer confessed his “love” for her.
“He asked me many questions about how I felt, what I liked, how I saw life and then one day he told me he was in love with me,” she told Mise Au Point.
The scammer insisted she keep their “relationship” secret and soon claimed she needed to pay a fee in order for them to meet.
“Darling, my management is asking for 50,000 dollars,” he wrote, saying it was the standard amount for anyone who wanted to meet him. Although she initially refused, she later convinced herself it might be legitimate.
“I thought maybe that’s how things work. I had never been in contact with an actor before,” she said. She sent him 30,000 dollars, then 20,000 more.
When the real Brad Pitt appeared at the Venice Film Festival, Patricia believed her dream was finally coming true. She prepared her luggage and waited for the invitation to join him. It never came. The scammer sent her flowers and a message saying, “I love you so much my heart. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you Pitt.”
After the initial payments the requests increased. The scammer asked for 10,000 dollars for supposed medical bills, then another 10,000. Eventually he suggested they meet in the United States.
Patricia traveled to Los Angeles. Instead of meeting Brad Pitt she spent three weeks alone in a hotel room. Before returning home she even sent another 20,000 dollars.
Back in Switzerland she came across a news story about a French woman who had paid 830,000 dollars to another scammer posing as Brad Pitt. Only then did Patricia realize she was also a victim. She reported everything to police and confirmed she had paid the scammer almost 100,000 dollars in total.
“It is an indescribable shame. I spent nearly a year in a relationship that did not exist. I ask myself how they managed to exploit me so badly,” she said.
