The First EVER Women Coach in Football History – German Giants Break The Barrier

News

German club Union Berlin has made a historic decision, appointing Marie-Louise Eta as head coach until June.

This change comes after the loss to 1. FC Heidenheim, which led to the dismissal of coach Steffen Baumgart.

With this appointment, Eta makes history as the first female coach to lead a team in the men’s Bundesliga, marking an important moment for German football and beyond.

The Union Berlin team will face the decisive phase of the season and the battle to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga, under the leadership of Eta, who previously coached the U19s and is scheduled to take charge of the club’s first women’s team.

“Given the points difference in the bottom half of the table, our place in the Bundesliga is not yet secure,” Eta declared ahead of the final matches of the season.

“I am pleased that the club has entrusted me with this challenging task. One of Union’s strengths has always been and remains the ability to unite in such situations. And, of course, I am convinced that we will secure the decisive points with the team,” declared Eta.
