During the month of August, Barcelona activated what is widely known as the “fourth lever”, selling 24.5% of the rights of Barça Studios to Orpheus Media, a company managed by Jaume Roures. Several other companies were also interested in buying this asset from the Barca club. According to information from Catalunya Radio, Gerard Pique, via Kosmos, was one of them.
President Joan Laporta had refused to sell 24.5% of Barça Studios to Pique, as he considered it a violation of ethics due to the fact that he was still an active footballer of the club.
It should be remembered that this very code of ethics was recently modified by Joan Laporta himself, shortly after taking office as president in his second era. After Barca’s president refused to sell Piqué’s share of the Barça Studio, talks began to reduce the salary of the central defender, who has not played any of the first four games of the championship.
