Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to enter the field as a substitute in the match between Manchester United and Tottenham, where the locals won 2-0.

The Portuguese star does not have a good relationship with coach Erik ten Hag, which is confirmed by his flight to the tunnel before the match at “Old Trafford” was finished.

Ronaldo was thought to have reacted furiously to being left on the bench by not bringing him on at all for the second time this season as Ten Hag brought on Christian Eriksen and Anthony Elanga in the 87th minute after they had used only three of their five replacement options.

But it is now understood that the 37-year-old was told to come on by Ten Hag but refused his manager’s instructions before heading off.

Ten Hag had said that he would “deal” with the situation on Thursday and he has already done so, since Ronaldo has not been invited for the match against Chelsea.

The problem will be finding a club in the January transfer window who can afford Ronaldo. Otherwise, he will have to wait until the summer to move on.
