Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has issued a strong warning to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Manchester City.
Speaking on his YouTube channel “Rio Ferdinand Presents”, Ferdinand stressed that Arsenal cannot go into the match with a defensive approach at the Etihad.
“If you go there and close down like Liverpool did against PSG, they will destroy you. You can’t win leagues playing like that.”
“City block all the passes and apply high pressure. I don’t think Bournemouth did it in the same way, but they worried Arsenal by forcing them into mistakes.”
According to him, Arteta’s team has not yet found a solution to this type of tactical pressure.
“Arsenal still haven’t found an answer. It wasn’t a good performance. They need to come out and fight more against the players,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, if Man City defeat Arsenal next weekend and win the match they have not played, then they will take the lead in the Premier League.
