Sadio Mane should have been Bayern’s biggest signing in recent years, but things haven’t gone to plan for the Senegalese.
The start was more than promising as he scored three goals in the opening three Bundesliga games as the Bavarians outclassed their rivals, but after that he became unrecognizable.
Mane is without a doubt one of the best players in the world, but adapting to a new environment and teammates is a bigger and bigger problem for the great striker.
Bayern suffered their first league defeat on Saturday. Augsburg won with a minimal 1:0, and Mane, who at least on paper should have been a striker, was unrecognizable.
To make matters worse for Mane, the Senegalese has suffered perhaps the biggest humiliation of his career when it comes to offensive performances.
Namely, in the match against Augsburg, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had more attempts at the goal than Mane, which really sounds incredible considering the huge differences in playing characteristics.
The experienced goalkeeper had two shots on goal, of which a stoppage-time header could have produced an equaliser, while the former Liverpool striker has just one attempt.
