The death of his father, Erasmo, greatly affected Arturo Vidal’s family. However, the Flamengo midfielder did not go to Chile to attend his father’s funeral, preferring to watch the ceremony via video on his phone.

The funeral took place yesterday (Thursday), a day after the first match of the Brazil Cup, which the former Juventus and Inter player played regularly (he entered the field in the 20th minute of the second half).
The club had given the midfielder an extra day off and authorized him to miss the match to travel to Chile, but Vidal decided against doing so.
The relationship between the player and his father has always been troubled, with Vidal never fully forgiving his father for abandoning the family in his youth.
