Eric Ten Hag can be pleased that Manchester United are back on the winning ways in the Premier League after last week’s derby debacle at City, but even more so by the reaction of the two experienced players who have been on the back burner so far.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro have been hanging out together mostly on the bench, but yesterday was the first time they got a real chance to be on the field for a longer period of time and immediately made a difference.
It was the combination between the Brazilian and the Portuguese that scored the goal in United’s 2-1 win, with Ten Haag highlighting the qualities of both as something they can all benefit from in the future.
– Every player needs confidence, even the best in the world. I have worked with many goalscorers in my career, they need goals like bread. I’m happy for Ronaldo’s first goal in the Premier League this season, it had to wait for him, but now I’m sure we’ll see many more. Now it will be much easier for him, I am happy that he reached the 700th goal in his career. I congratulated him for what he did, – said Ten Haag, who did not forget Casemiro either.
– Casemiro slowly started to adapt and you could see the impact he had on the team. You can imagine what it will be like when he plays even more games as a starter. He wins a lot of balls in the middle and is very calm when passing the ball in the attack, – said the Dutchman.
