SKOPJE, North Macedonia — A young American man who traveled to North Macedonia to attend a family wedding has died in a car accident, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Enis Bajrami, had flown from the United States to join the wedding celebration of his uncle, a well-known European diplomat, in a small town in the country.
Police said the crash occurred just hours after the ceremony ended. Bajrami and four relatives were reportedly on their way to Ohrid Airport to return to the U.S. when their car collided with a truck only a few kilometers from the wedding venue.
Bajrami died at the scene, while the four other passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief among family members and friends.
“So unbelievable, so unfair, and so painful… Enis is gone,” one relative wrote in a Facebook post.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
