The Constitutional Court has annulled the 2007 decision of the Municipality of Tetovo to rename streets, squares, bridges and other public facilities in the city. The court ruled that the decision was never approved by the Government, making it inconsistent with legal and constitutional procedures.

The ruling overturns changes that saw streets such as “Marshal Tito,” “YNA,” and “29 November” renamed to “Illyria,” “Dervish Cara,” “Mehmet Pasha Deralla,” and other names. The initiative challenging the decision’s legality was submitted in 2025 by Darijan Sotirovski and the Union of WWII Veterans in Tetovo.
