Trump Unveils Lavish Lincoln Bathroom Makeover Amid White House Upgrades

US President Donald Trump has revealed the newly renovated bathroom adjoining the historic Lincoln Bedroom, marking the latest in a series of sweeping changes to the White House’s interior.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump showcased the remodel, saying the space had “been redone in the 1940s with outdated art deco green tiles – totally wrong for Lincoln’s time.” He added that the new black-and-white marble design is “perfect for the Lincoln Era and possibly the same kind that was there originally.”

The remodel introduces gold accents throughout — on faucets, shower doors, and lighting — plus a small chandelier, creating what Trump called “a respectful yet luxurious tribute” to Abraham Lincoln. The White House confirmed the work was privately financed, costing taxpayers nothing.

This renovation follows Trump’s more ambitious project: the demolition of the East Wing to make room for a multi-million-dollar private ballroom, announced in October. While Trump insisted the new structure wouldn’t affect the existing building, he later admitted “the old part had to go.” He said the ballroom is being paid for by himself and “a few generous friends.”

Historic preservationists have criticized the president’s renovations, arguing that such major changes should go through public review to maintain the building’s classical integrity. The White House responded sharply, calling critics “unhinged leftists clutching their pearls” over what it described as Trump’s visionary modernization of the presidential residence.

Other updates to the White House include Trump’s conversion of the Rose Garden lawn into a stone patio, and the addition of gold-trimmed décor throughout the Oval Office — from new portrait frames to a gold-leaf presidential seal on the ceiling.

Democratic leaders have blasted Trump’s focus on renovations amid a government shutdown now in its second month, caused by disputes over health-care subsidies.
“Donald Trump cares more about decorating his bathroom than fixing America’s healthcare,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Speaking at a weekend event, former President Barack Obama quipped that Trump seems “busy tackling the big issues — like paving over the Rose Garden, gold-plating the Oval Office, and building a $300-million ballroom. If you can’t see your doctor, don’t worry — he’ll save you a dance.”
