According to journalist Jorge Picón for El DesMarque, the Madrid hierarchy have now shifted their focus to Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
The German defender is highly rated for his pace, height and excellent ability on the ball. At just 26 years old, he is considered to be at the peak of his development.
The report states that Real Madrid see Schlotterbeck as a potential replacement for David Alaba or Antonio Rüdiger, both of whom are approaching the end of their contracts at the end of the season. As a result, the club have already informed the player of their interest in signing him this summer.
