American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to be released from prison about six weeks earlier than planned after participating in a rehabilitation program while serving his sentence.
His release date has been moved from June 4, 2028 to April 25, 2028 following his involvement in a drug rehabilitation program aimed at helping inmates address substance abuse issues.
According to a statement from his representative, Combs has taken the program seriously and remains committed to personal growth and positive change.
Combs is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Prison Fort Dix in New Jersey. This is not the first time his release date has been adjusted. In the past, it was extended due to alleged violations of prison rules, including alcohol consumption and making multiple unauthorized phone calls.
His representative has denied those violations, stating that one of the calls in question was protected under attorney client privilege.
Meanwhile, Combs has filed an appeal against his four year sentence. His legal team is seeking immediate release, a reversal of the conviction, or a reduced sentence, arguing that the evidence presented during the trial was insufficient and that the ruling violated his constitutional rights.
The rapper was arrested in September 2024 on charges that included racketeering, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, fraud, and transportation related to prostitution. His case remains one of the most controversial legal battles involving a major figure in the music industry.
