Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, ending a successful era at the Etihad.
In an emotional open letter to fans, the Portuguese midfielder wrote:
“After a few months it is time to say goodbye to the city where we not only achieved so much as a football club, but also where I started my marriage and family.”
Silva recalled the greatest moments of his career with City:
“Centurions, inner quadruple, third triple, fourth quadruple and many more… It wasn’t that bad.”
He also expressed gratitude to coach Pep Guardiola, staff, teammates and fans for their continued support over the years, adding:
“I arrived as a Man City player, I’m leaving as another one of you – a Man City fan for life.”
The 31-year-old’s departure marks the end of a golden period for the English club, during which he became one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and contributed to winning many major trophies.
