Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are the two biggest names at Real Madrid at the moment and make up one of the strongest attacking units in the world on paper.
However, when we look at Real Madrid’s history, the current duo still doesn’t come close to the top, as the club has had many attacking combinations in the past that have been superior both on paper and in numbers.
One of the biggest in this regard was the partnership between Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale – a trio that led the team to several Champions League triumphs.
Benzema on his time with Cristiano Ronaldo
Benzema recently spoke to the media about his time at Real Madrid and what it was like to share the pitch with Ronaldo at the peak of his form.
The Frenchman didn’t hold back at all and clearly expressed how much he had enjoyed playing with him.
“Ronaldo? It was wonderful to play with Cristiano,” said the Real Madrid legend.
Speaking about what he had learned from the Portuguese star, Benzema credited him for many aspects of his attacking game.
“I learned a lot from him, especially about movement, penetration in the area, pressing and how to manage it.”
“This guy was scoring more than 50 goals a season, it was unbelievable, man.”
While Ronaldo is expected to be part of the next World Cup, Benzema will not participate after announcing his retirement from the national team in 2022.
At club level, however, the two legends continue to share the field, this time as rivals in Saudi Arabia.
