Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with AC Milan to explore the possibility of a summer move for Portuguese star Rafael Leao.
With a reported valuation of €60m, both Premier League giants are keen to secure the 26-year-old’s signature before his price tag rises significantly after the 2026 World Cup in North America.
United and Liverpool have emerged as the leading English candidates for Leao, having made official requests to learn whether he is available for sale.
Milan are said to be open to a sale as they look to balance their finances, setting a valuation that many elite clubs consider “excellent value” for a player of this level.
Both clubs are pushing for talks to be concluded before the opening of the summer transfer window, to avoid the price hike that usually comes when a player shines at the World Cup.
Although no official offer has yet been submitted, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that at least two English clubs have made contact to understand Milan’s financial demands.
Discussions have mainly focused on Leao’s current salary situation and the exact amount that would convince the club to accept a sale this summer.
“I can tell you that several Premier League clubs have made phone calls to understand Leao’s situation. How much is he worth? How much does Milan want? How is his salary?”
“So, several Premier League clubs, more than one, I can tell you, there have been two, let’s say from what I’ve heard, two Premier League clubs are calling to understand the situation,” Romano declared.
