A huge celebration by Paris Saint-Germain fans after they reached the Champions League final, defeating Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate, quickly turned into riots on the streets of Paris.

According to French media reports, 127 people were arrested for public order offences and the use of fireworks. 23 police officers were also injured in clashes between fans and police.

The unrest cast a shadow over an excellent performance by the French team, who will play in the Champions League final for the second year in a row.

The Parisians are the current European champions and will defend their title in Budapest on May 30, having won it last season following a 5-0 victory over Inter.

Last night’s scenes were reminiscent of last year’s celebrations, which also turned violent with even worse consequences.

Two people died, 692 fires were set, 190 people were injured and more than 500 were arrested. Unfortunately, Parisian fans confirmed last night that they do not know how to celebrate victories with dignity.
