Jose Mourinho Denies Move to Real Madrid

News

Benfica coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he has received a renewal offer from the Portuguese club, and at the same time, has denied any offer from Real Madrid regarding the coaching position.

Mourinho has been the most talked about name to succeed Alvaro Arbeloa on the Real Madrid bench, but the Portuguese has already denied any contact with Los Blancos.

“Yes, on Wednesday I received an offer for a contract extension from Benfica. The offer was given to my agent, but I didn’t want to see it, discover it or consider it. I will only do this from Sunday onwards; I would say Sunday,” Mourinho initially said.

“As for Real Madrid, they never told me they had any offer to make me. Neither the president nor anyone else in a position of authority. But if they had told me, I would have given exactly the same answer.”

“Next week will be important for me, for my future and also for Benfica. When the season ends, Benfica must start thinking about the next one.”

“But, according to the contract and the agreement I signed upon arrival, we have this period of a few days to see what will happen and make a decision.”

“Benfica is much bigger than me; there is no comparison. It is bigger than everyone, than any coach, player, president, than anyone else.”

“Therefore, as far as my personal situation is concerned, I don’t think there is any reason to worry, because the club is bigger than everyone and there is no need to worry if someone leaves,” the Portuguese coach concluded.
