Liverpool Reach Agreement for First Signing of The Season

News

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement for their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Reds host Brentford at Anfield on Sunday in the final match of the 2025/26 Premier League season. A point would guarantee Arne Slot’s side qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool are currently in fifth place, but will overtake Aston Villa if they win, while Villa lose away to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, work on the main objectives in the transfer window has begun and a deal is said to have already been closed.

According to journalist Pipe Sierra, Liverpool have reached an agreement to transfer midfielder Samuel Martinez from Colombian club Atletico Nacional.

The agreement is said to be worth around 880 thousand euros.

The Colombia youth international, who plays as an attacking midfielder but can also be deployed in more defensive roles, had been linked with several European giants, including Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

However, Sierra reports that Liverpool have managed to beat off competition, including interest from Dortmund, to secure the 17-year-old.

It is also said that the English club is close to a final agreement that would see the Colombian join Liverpool in 2027, in accordance with FIFA rules for the transfer of players under the age of 18.
