The Three Names Real Madrid Are Considering to Replace Carvajal

News

According to various media reports, Spanish runners-up Real Madrid have three options to replace departing captain Dani Carvajal at right-back.

Some data points towards the Premier League, where future Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has spent many years working.

According to Sport , one candidate is Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot. Mourinho is said to be interested in bringing his Portuguese compatriot to Madrid.

The pair have worked together before at the Red Devils – in the summer of 2018, Dalot joined United from Porto for €22m. Mourinho then managed him for six months.

Dalot, who can also play on the left wing, has a contract with Manchester United until 2028. The 27-year-old was a regular starter last season, making 36 appearances in all competitions (one goal, three assists).

The second option from the English elite, according to AS, is Tottenham’s Pedro Porro. However, the 26-year-old is considered too expensive.

Like Dalot, Porro is under contract until 2028. Tottenham, still embroiled in a battle for survival in the Premier League, paid €40m to sign him from Sporting Lisbon in 2023.

Meanwhile, the third option would be significantly cheaper for Real – to rely on academy players.

With two young players, Jesus Fortea (19) and David Jimenez (22), Real have two promising talents who can cover this position behind the first right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
