Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed he received a congratulatory message from Pep Guardiola shortly after Manchester City’s 1-1 draw decided the Premier League title race in the Gunners’ favour.
Arsenal and City have been battling for the Premier League title until the 37th week of the championship, but a defeat by the “Citizens” on the road to Bournemouth meant that the champion was not decided on the final round.
After 22 years of waiting, the London club was declared champions of England and coach Arteta has now revealed that he has also received a congratulatory message from his friend, who has been an opponent for several years, Guardiola.

“Right after the match, he sent me a message. He said, we’ll talk in the coming days,” Arteta initially said.
“First of all, it’s gratitude to Manchester City. To all the opponents.”

“We have shown the level we have shown because everyone has raised their game and their standard. If you don’t do that, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
