Atletico Madrid Troll Barcelona on Social Media

News

Atletico Madrid celebrated last night’s elimination of their Catalan rivals and their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a series of social media posts directed at Barcelona.

Immediately after the match, they posted a funny meme with the text “We are right now,” followed by short messages like “Well, good” and “How are you” to their over 5.1 million followers.

The most discussed post was a collage of Atlético players wearing sunglasses and headphones, and their pose was a reference to a photo of LeBron James used by Lamine Yamal.

There was also a post of a lion with a Barcelona logo, running towards a crowd on a bus, but a tourist removes its mask and the lion turns out to be a dog.

The Madrid fans did not hesitate to touch on Barcelona’s historic motto, so the club released a video of the players celebrating with the fans with the text: “Atletico de Madrid. More than a club.”

The Madrid club did not miss the opportunity to argue with Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who complained about the height of the grass at the Metropolitano stadium before the second leg.

“We love the smell of freshly cut grass in the morning,” the Madrid club wrote, which was their response to Flick and Barcelona’s complaint to UEFA.

Let us remind you that the European Football Association ultimately rejected the Catalans’ appeal and ruled in favor of Atlético, and Diego Simeone and his friends had the last laugh.
