Chelsea have made the decision to sack coach Liam Rosenior, at a time when the season is entering a crucial phase, as the London club plays four more matches in the Premier League, while it is on the verge of the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds.

According to reports from England, Rosenior – who had a contract until 2032 – could receive compensation of up to 25 million euros after leaving Stamford Bridge.

It is reported that the coach earned 5 million euros per year after he moved to the Stamford Bridge bench.

The decision comes after a period considered unsustainable for the club, while the situation was significantly worsened by the team’s poor performances.

Calum McFarlane will temporarily take charge of the team until the next decision is made about the Londoners’ bench.

Meanwhile, frequent bench changes remain one of the hallmarks of the new era at Chelsea.

Since Todd Boehly, backed by Clearlake Capital, took over the club in the summer of 2022, six coaches have taken the bench (not counting interims): Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca and now Liam Rosenior.

Other coaches, Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel, are said to have collected around 15.2 million euros each after their dismissal. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino received around 11.7 million euros. Maresca has refused to be paid.
