Barcelona are considering the possibility of leaving French defender Jules Kounde during the summer transfer window in order to secure funds for new reinforcements in the offensive department.
The Catalan leaders are targeting big transfers this summer, with some targets costing up to 100 million euros, so selling some high-value players on the market is being considered as a solution to balance finances.
Although Kounde remains an important player for the team, his form and situation in recent weeks have meant that the club no longer considers him untouchable.
The Frenchman has lost his starting spot in recent games and continues to attract interest from European clubs. Barcelona will not actively seek his departure, but are willing to listen to significant financial offers.
In the event of the 27-year-old’s departure, Barcelona’s priority to replace him would be Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
According to reports from Italian media, the Dutch defender wants to leave Inter this summer and his representatives have already made contact with Barcelona.
Barcelona decide to sell Koundes in the summer
It is reported that sporting director Deco has had a meeting with the player’s agents, while Liverpool have also shown interest in Dumfries.
Barcelona have made it clear to the player that his transfer depends directly on Kounde’s future.
Dumfries has a contract with Inter for two more years, but has a release clause of 25 million euros, valid until July 31. The final decision is expected to be made after the end of his World Cup commitments.
