Chelsea have recorded one of the worst runs in the history of English football, after being defeated 3-0 by Brighton on Tuesday night.
The Blues suffered a heavy defeat at the AMEX Stadium, after goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck gave Brighton a win that lifted them above their opponents into sixth place.
Chelsea are now in seventh place with 48 points, after a terrible and almost unprecedented run under Liam Rosenior.
The West London side have lost five consecutive Premier League games, having been beaten by Newcastle, Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United and now Brighton.
In these five matches, they conceded 11 goals and failed to score a single goal, something that has not happened to them since November 1912.
Chelsea had a total of six shots against Brighton, but none went into the box, while fans in the away section booed them for their poor performance, forcing Rosenior to apologize.
Rosenior’s side appear to have thrown off the race for a Champions League place and are now seven points behind Liverpool in fifth place.
They return to action on Saturday with the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds at Wembley.
