The Argentinian strategist Jorge Sampaoli is the first target of the Sevilla administration, which is increasingly considering the sacking of Julen Lopetegui. Sevilla have had a dismal start to the season, winning just one in all competitions and sitting 17th in the La Liga table with five points, while picking up just one point in the Champions League in the first two rounds.

The Spanish media write that the management of Sevilla and Sampaoli have reached an agreement in principle for cooperation, and soon the Argentine could sit on the bench of the Spanish team for the second time.

Sampaoli led Sevilla to a fourth-place finish in 2016/17 with 72 points, ending Real Madrid’s 40-game unbeaten run. However, he could not refuse the offer to lead Argentina at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and left the Spanish team after one season.

Sampaoli then led Santos, Atlético Mineiro, and last season he led the team of Olympique Marseille and since then he has been without a coaching engagement. His greatest success is the triumph of the Copa America in 2015, but with the Chilean national team.
