Cooling Vests, Ventilators & Medics – Germany Battling The Heat in USA

News

The German national team is facing scorching temperatures during its stay at base camp in Winston-Salem, where the thermometer has reached up to 41 degrees Celsius.

To help the players cope with the difficult climatic conditions, numerous measures have been taken by the technical staff and team partners.

Sports equipment manufacturer Adidas has provided football players with special cooling vests, which are used during training and recovery periods.

Also, special fans have been installed in the training facilities that emit water vapor to lower the temperature and create more favorable conditions for the players.

Due to the risk posed by high temperatures, medical teams are on constant alert during training sessions, as a preventive measure against any potential health problems.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has also put together an interesting strategy for the team’s adaptation to the American climate.

“He asked me if I was drunk,” Nagelsmann makes the phone call that drove the German midfielder crazy

He has asked players to avoid staying in air-conditioned environments for long periods of time and spend as much time outdoors as possible.

According to the German coach, gradual exposure to high temperatures will help the players adapt more quickly to the conditions they will encounter during World Cup matches.

The extreme heat is expected to be one of the biggest challenges of this World Cup and Germany seems to be leaving nothing to chance in its preparations for the tournament.
