Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is officially a Chelsea player. The Gabonese has returned to the Premier League, and it will be his second experience in England, having previously been part of Arsenal.
The attacker has also chosen the number he will wear on his shirt. Aubameyang will be Chelsea’s new number nine. The former Arsenal man will be hoping to do his best in the blues of London and also in a number that has been cursed in recent seasons for Chelsea.
The last players who have held this number are Romelu Lukaku, Gonzalo Higain, Alvaro Morata, Radamel Falcao, Fernando Torres.
Lukaku is the last player to hold that number. In total in the Premier League he made 26 appearances and scored only six goals. Argentine Higuain was the other striker to fail in his Premier League adventure with Chelsea, with the 34-year-old finishing with just five goals.
Radamel Falcao played only ten games for Chelsea and scored only one goal, while Fernando Torres played for three seasons at Stamford Bridge and scored 20 goals in the Premier League.
The next to wear the number nine shirt for Chelsea is a 33-year-old who has previously shone for the Gunners, but will he break the number nine curse at the Blues remains to be seen seen.
