Mason Greenwood is one step away from a move to Serie A. The English striker has reached an agreement on personal terms with Roma, bringing the parties even closer to finalizing one of the most sensational transfers of the summer.
According to reports from “Corriere dello Sport”, the capital club and the footballer have found common ground for the contract, with Roma ready to offer him a net salary of four million euros per season, including bonuses.
Roma are now the favourites to sign the 24-year-old, beating out Fenerbahce, who had also shown serious interest in the former Manchester United striker.
Coach Gian Piero Gasperini sees Greenwood as one of the key figures in his project and wants to make him the leader of the offensive department for next season, when the yellow and reds will also compete in the Champions League.
However, an agreement between the clubs has yet to be reached. Roma are preparing an offer of around €40 million, while Marseille are demanding around €55 million for the English striker.
The French club are willing to listen to offers as they aim to secure funds for new reinforcements during the summer transfer window, while Greenwood is considered one of the most valuable assets that could bring in significant income.
The 24-year-old has excelled in the Marseille shirt over the past two seasons, recording 48 goals and 17 assists in 81 appearances, statistics that have made him one of the most prominent offensive players in Ligue 1.
If the clubs reach an agreement on the transfer fee, Greenwood will become one of Roma’s most important reinforcements for the new season.
