Massimiliano Allegri has made it clear that he wants Juventus to re-sign Alvaro Morata but fellow Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is proving to be an obstacle.
The 29-year-old forward has only just returned to the Spanish capital following a fairly positive two-year loan spell in Turin. With two years still remaining on his contract, the Bianconeri are keen to bring him back on loan once again and have been in talks with Atletico regarding the idea.
As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atletico are not willing to lose Morata for the time being due to the Griezmann situation; should the Frenchman participate in 25% of Atletico’s matches next season, a clause in his loan deal would be activated, forcing Diego Simeone’s side to pay Barcelona €40m.
Predictably, Atletico are not keen to spent this €40m and so need Morata to stay in order to reduce the reliance on Griezmann. The 2018 World Cup winner has already been warned that he’ll find limited playing time next season and is on the transfer list, but no buyers have made an approach yet.
