Arsenal and French football legend Thierry Henry has praised the extraordinary work of Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique after the French club’s triumph in the Champions League.
PSG secured their second consecutive trophy in Europe’s most prestigious club competition after defeating Arsenal in the final on Saturday night. The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of play, with the Parisians triumphing 4-3 on penalties.
After the match, Henry did not spare great words for the Spanish coach, emphasizing that Enrique has managed to fulfill the promises he had made after the departure of Kylian Mbappe.
“After Mbappe left, you said that your team would become better, that it would develop as a team and win as a team. You didn’t just say it, you did it and you did it again,” Henry said during the conversation with the PSG coach.
The former French striker added that Enrique has always shown great faith in his ideas, even when he has been criticized by public opinion.
“I’ve said before that people often confuse arrogance with confidence. You know exactly what’s going on with your team and where it needs to go,” Henry continued.
The French legend also praised the impact that Luis Enrique’s PSG has had on French football, describing the team’s style of play as something that hasn’t been seen in decades.
“I have to say that what you are doing for French football is extraordinary. Probably not since the 90s have we seen a French team in Europe playing with so much confidence and quality,” Henry concluded.
With two consecutive Champions League titles, Luis Enrique has confirmed PSG as the dominant force in European football and one of the most feared teams of the moment.
