Enrique Riquelme has revealed that Erling Haaland and Rodri will be his two main signings if he wins Real Madrid’s presidential election on Sunday, making the bold statement during an appearance at El Hormiguero.
The businessman had previously announced club legends Raul Gonzalez as sporting director and Fernando Hierro as academy head, but now he has gone a step further.
He showed great ambition by vowing that Manchester City stars Haaland and Rodri would be his first two signings if he were to be elected president of Real Madrid.
“Erling Haaland and Rodri are my star signings if I become president of Real Madrid,” Riquelme told El Hormiguero .
Haaland has been in incredible form for City since his arrival in 2022, establishing himself as the best striker in world football. Meanwhile, Rodri won the Ballon d’Or in 2024 and is widely regarded as the best midfielder on the planet.
Securing either player would represent a monumental transfer for any club, let alone both at the same time. Whether Riquelme’s vision is realistic remains another matter entirely, with City unlikely to entertain offers for either of their stars.
Sunday’s election against Florentino Perez will determine whether these ambitions will ever progress beyond campaign promises.
