The prices that have to be paid to buy the big football “stars” have gone to the “stratosphere”. And when you think that players who have already become legends have been paid very ridiculously, the question rightly arises: how much will you cost “stars” like Diego Armando Maradona or Ronaldo Nazario de Lima (“The Phenomenon”) today?
In the case of Maradona, PlayRatings (responsible for the algorithm) hypothesized that his market value at the end of the 1986/87 season, in which he won the Serie A title, exceeded £390 million.
Taking as a reference some of the highest transfers in history, such as Neymar from Barça to PSG, the British newspaper “The Sun” has made a comparison with the money that some teams would have invested if these transfers from many years ago were carried out in 2021. Inter would have to spend close to £400 million to get the Brazilian Phenomenon from Barcelona, while Maradona’s transfer to Napoli would cost more than £300 million.
