Investigation, Accusations and a Strong Response: Joan Laporta Denies Any Role in €100,000 Scandal

News

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has fiercely denied any involvement in an alleged €100,000 fraud scheme, currently under investigation by Barcelona’s Court of Instruction No. 22.

The case, which has no connection to FC Barcelona, revolves around claims that Laporta deceived a woman through investments linked to Core Store and CSSB Limited. Spanish media reports had suggested Laporta was summoned to court on January 16, 2026, prompting an immediate and forceful response from the Barça president.

“I Have No Connection Whatsoever”

In an official public statement, Laporta categorically rejected all accusations, stressing that he does not know the complainant and never participated in any fraudulent agreement.

“I did not take part in signing any contract related to the alleged fraud, nor do I know the person filing the complaint.”

Laporta further clarified that he has never been a representative or agent of CSSB Limited, nor has he ever received funds on behalf of the company.

“I am not, and have never been, a representative or agent of CSSB Ltd. I have not signed any contracts nor received any money in the company’s name.”

The Signature Explained

Addressing a document cited by the complainant’s lawyer, Laporta explained that his signature appears solely as a witness, which he described as standard legal practice in that jurisdiction.

“My signature appears only in the capacity of a witness, not as a contracting party.”

He expressed full confidence that the investigation will ultimately clear his name, noting that the complaint was initially rejected at an early stage.

“I am fully convinced that the investigation will confirm I played no role in this matter.”

Legal Action Against the Media?

Laporta also warned that he reserves the right to take legal action against media outlets that, in his view, have published inaccurate or one-sided information, damaging his personal and professional reputation.

⚠️ As the investigation continues, Laporta insists his name has been dragged into a case that has nothing to do with him — or with FC Barcelona
