Jim Carrey has found himself at the center of bizarre online conspiracy theories after appearing at the 51st Cesar Awards in Paris, where he received an honorary award.
Photos of the 64 year old actor quickly spread across social media, sparking strange speculation ranging from cosmetic surgery rumors to claims that the Hollywood star had been replaced by a clone.
The theories became so widespread that Carrey’s representative was forced to respond, telling DailyMail that the actor personally attended the ceremony and dismissing the claims as completely unfounded.
Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the Cesar Awards, also confirmed the authenticity of Carrey’s appearance, describing the moment as historic. He explained that the actor’s visit had been planned months in advance and that Carrey had spent eight months preparing his speech in French.
Despite these confirmations, social media users continued to fuel conspiracy theories. Some claimed his eye color looked lighter than usual, while others pointed out that he appeared to sign autographs with his right hand, even though he is widely known to be left handed.
The confusion grew even further when famous makeup transformation artist Alexis Stone posted on Instagram with the caption “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris,” which led many users to question whether the actor they saw was real.
The post drew reactions from several public figures, including Megan Fox and Lisa Rinna, who expressed surprise at the transformation.
However, organizers of the Cesar Awards and Carrey’s representatives have made one thing clear: the actor was truly present in Paris, putting an end to the wave of conspiracy theories circulating online.
