Kim Kardashian the reality TV star has revealed the reason why she changed her name 18 years ago.
Specifically Kim recently spoke in an interview about her new MasterClass seminar on the new rules of business where she revealed a little known fact about the early days of the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
She explained that when the original family reality show first premiered in 2007 she used only her full name Kimberly confirming that at age 27 she rarely used the nickname by which she is known today.
“My name was always Kimberly until we signed up for the reality show. And when I saw my daughter Kimberly Kardashian I said I think it is too long for people. Let’s shorten it to Kim. And it is very strange because all my high school and childhood friends and my dad called me Kimberly” she recalled.
After its premiere in 2007 the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired for another 14 years. One year after it ended in 2022 the family returned to screens with The Kardashians whose seventh season is currently airing.
Kim Kardashian commented on how she always wanted to be on a reality show since childhood.
“I really wanted to be on a reality show from the day MTV’s The Real World came out. I was watching it with my best friend. I watched it and told her I am going to do this too. And she said I will be your manager. I think we were 11 years old” she revealed.
Destiny had it that the Kardashian family created their own first television reality series with the same producers as The Real World.
