Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was involved in a violent physical altercation during the Euroleague basketball final in Athens on Sunday evening.

The 58-year-old, who also owns Olympiacos, was filmed pushing, grabbing and shouting in the VIP stands as security and bystanders separated people moments after his team’s 92-85 victory over Real Madrid.

According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere became hostile between Marinakis and Grigoris Dimitriadis, a prominent former member of the Greek government and nephew of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The conflict, which reportedly began as a verbal altercation, quickly escalated into a physical confrontation that shocked those present.

During the scuffle, Marinakis’ shirt was torn and security personnel were forced to intervene to separate the conflicting parties, as the situation risked getting out of control.

He was later seen with visible bruises on his face, in addition to his torn shirt.

The dramatic scenes have gone viral after a 17-second raw video emerged showing the chaotic melee in full.

Marinakis has a history of controversy at Forest, including previous bans and fines, and this latest incident has sparked widespread debate and memes among football fans.

Greek authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Neither side has yet made an official statement on what exactly caused the collision.
