The Catalan club played below its level in previous seasons and it was clear that there are big problems that must be solved as soon as possible.

Of course, the main problem was the huge debts that Barcelona had, and with the arrival of Joan Laporte, the action began. Because of this, many first team players agreed to take a pay cut to help the club, which was the only way to sign new signings.

This summer Barcelona is in a much better financial situation, but still the main goal in the club is to reduce the salaries of certain players because they believe that the previous administration spent more money than it should have.

Because of this, Barcelona tried to sell Frankie de Jong or reduce his salary, but he refused. But De Jong wasn’t the only one Barcelona tried to sell or send out on loan this summer.

On the last day of the transfer window, it was rumored that Barcelona wanted to get rid of Jordi Alba, and they even reached an agreement with Inter for the loan of the experienced left back, but in the end he refused to go to the Italian club.

Jordi Alba stated that his only goal is to stay at Barcelona and that he is not interested in Inter’s offer, which disappointed Laporta and company.

“Mundo Deportivo” writes that Laporta wanted to send Alba to Inter only for one reason, and that is his high salary which will be really high this season due to a clause in the contract.

Namely, Alba should earn around 30 million euros this season, because the former management designed his contract like that, so this season, many bonuses and deferred salaries will follow.

That’s why Laporta wanted to solve it in his own way and send Alba on loan, which really bothered the Spaniard. He told Laporta that he was disappointed that he was disrespected after everything he has given for this club.

Alba even lost his place in Barcelona’s starting team after ten years as a standard left-back. In the end, he stayed at the club, and how they will find a way to pay him all that money remains to be seen.
