A new adventure will start for a famous ex-footballer of Italy and Rome! We are talking about Daniele De Rossi who was appointed as the new coach of Spal today. The former Roma midfielder will start his career as a coach in Serie B.
The former Reds captain, who has been close to Roberto Mancini for nearly two years, takes over from Venturato, who was sacked last Sunday. De Rossi has signed a one and a half year contract. De Rossi had the spirit of a coach since he was a footballer and when he said goodbye to football his transition to the other side was practically taken for granted.
De Rossi cleverly waited for the right moment and before accepting the first bench worked alongside Roberto Mancini in the national team, he was also at Wembley when Italy won the European Championship. In recent months his name has been joined by many teams, Serie A and Serie B, but no negotiations have been closed to date.
Spal have decided to sack technician Venturato, who was at the club since last January. The Ferrara city team is in 14th place with 9 points won in 8 matches (2 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses). The white and blue fight for salvation, but the standings are short and with a good comeback you can reach the playoff zone.
There are two curiosities that stand out. One is about the Coppa Italia. Spal are still in contention, they will challenge Genoa next week and if they go through in Marassi they will challenge Roma and it would be incredible for De Rossi.
The other is about the Serie B championship, which is full of 2006 world champions: from Buffon, who is still a footballer, to Inzaghi, leader on the bench to Reggina, passing through Grosso and Fabio Cannavaro.
