Real Madrid Star Set to Undergo Surgery and Miss the World Cup

Injuries are causing headaches for Eder Militao again. According to the show “Tiempo de Juego de COPE”, the Real Madrid defender could undergo surgery, which would keep him out of this summer’s World Cup.

The Brazilian defender was forced to leave the game during the match against Alaves due to pain in his thigh muscles, and a few days later the Real Madrid medical service confirmed the diagnosis of an injury to the biceps femoris muscle – in his left leg.

Militao is now consulting with his doctors and loved ones about his next steps. If he opts for a conservative treatment without surgery, he could return to the field in five weeks, but the risk of the injury recurring remains very real.

On the other hand, according to the newspaper Marca , the operation would mean losing the World Cup, but would significantly reduce the chance of him facing the same injury again.

If surgery is to be performed, the recovery period is estimated to be between four and five months. This would allow him to be ready for the start of the 2026/27 season, although his injury history requires caution.

The 28-year-old centre-back has 38 caps for his country and has started three of Brazil’s last four matches.
