An unusual robbery has occurred at the Louvre Museum, one of the most famous cultural institutions in the world, located in the heart of Paris.

The news was confirmed by the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, through a post on social networks.

“There are no injuries to report,” she wrote: “I am on the scene together with the museum teams and the forces of law and order. Investigations are ongoing.”

In an official announcement on the X platform (formerly Twitter), the Louvre Museum announced that: “The museum will remain closed today for exceptional reasons.”

So far, it is not yet known exactly what was taken during the robbery, or if any works of art were damaged or disappeared.

The Louvre is home to some of the most famous works in art history, including the “Mona Lisa” and “Girl with Light,” and is guarded with high security measures.
