All summer it was speculated that Cristiano Ronaldo was negotiating with the Saudi club Al Hilal and that he was in front of a two-year contract for 242 million euros.

Many did not believe that this was true, but the information was confirmed by Ronaldo’s manager, Jorge Mendes, as well as the president of Al Hilal, Fahad ben Nafel. He claims that they were close to an agreement, but a big administrative problem got in the way.

“It is true that we negotiated with Ronaldo, money is never a problem because Al Hilal is capable of buying any footballer in the world. The problem was that we have a transfer ban from the International Court of Arbitration for Sport and we are not allowed to sign footballers. We are, however, negotiating to be ready the moment the suspension is lifted,” said Ben Nafel.

The club has been banned from transfers since May this year due to the case of Mohamed Kano. Al Hilal was accused of signing two contracts. As for Ronaldo, he remains at Manchester United, with whom he has a contract for another season.
