Selena Gomez has opened up about a deeply sentimental gift she received from her longtime best friend Taylor Swift for her 30th birthday, describing it as one of the sweetest surprises she has ever received.
The singer and actress shared the story during a recent appearance on her husband Benny Blanco’s podcast, Friends Keep Secrets, where she spoke with excitement about the handmade present Swift created especially for her in 2022.
According to Gomez, Swift painted a beautiful nighttime scene featuring a lake and the moon shining above it.
“She painted this gorgeous lake,” Gomez said. “It was nighttime and there was a moon. In the stars she painted our exact zodiac signs.”
But the gift did not stop there. Swift also added a personal message stitched directly into the canvas.
“She embroidered a note on the fabric that said, ‘This is for the next 30 years,’” Gomez explained. “She made it on real fabric and stitched every single letter. It was the sweetest gift.”
Benny Blanco, 37, was equally impressed by Swift’s artistic talent.
“It’s like one of the best paintings I’ve ever seen,” he said during the conversation.
Elsewhere in the podcast episode, which was released on YouTube Tuesday, the Rare Beauty founder also confirmed a long standing fan theory. Gomez revealed that Swift’s song “Dorothea,” from the Evermore album, was written about her.
When asked if their long friendship makes Swift’s music feel more personal, Gomez did not hesitate.
“One million percent,” she said.
The revelation once again highlighted the deep bond between the two pop stars, whose friendship has lasted for more than a decade and continues to inspire fans around the world.
